Personal information
Georges Schteinberg was French-Brazilian and on his way to the UK to voluntarily join the Forces Aériennes Françaises Libres (FAFL) when Brittany was sunk. Known as Lasson he became a Sergeant and served as gunner in 342 (Lorraine) Squadron RAF. Georges was killed in action when Boston Mk.IIIA BZ393 was shot down by anti-aircraft fire near Aagtekerke during a low-level bombing mission to an aircraft factory at Charleroi, Belgium on 22 October 1943.
