Notes on event | At 17.00 hours on 17 Jan 1940 the Cairnross (Master Laurence Halcrow) in convoy OB-74 struck a mine, laid on 6 January by U-30 and sank seven miles 276° from the Bar Lightvessel, Liverpool. The master and 47 crew members were picked up by the HMS Mackay (D 70) (Cdr G.H. Stokes) and landed at Liverpool. | ||
