Notes on event | At 05.10 hours on 15 Oct 1940, U-138 fired torpedoes at convoy OB-228 38 miles northwest of Butt of Lewis and hit the Bonheur and five minutes later the British Glory. The Bonheur (Master Leon Otto Everett) foundered later in 57°14N/08°20W. The master and 38 crew members were picked up by HMS Sphene (FY 249) (Chief Skipper W.J.J. Tucker, RNR) and landed at Belfast. | ||
