History | Completed in June 1918 as armed trawler HMS John Fairman (No. 3750) of the Strath class for the Admiralty and served as hydrophone vessel. 1920 converted to a fishing trawler and renamed Ocean Victor (A 7) for J. Craig, Aberdeen. | ||
Notes on event | At 05.28 hours on 9 August 1941 the unescorted Ocean Victor (Skipper Marquis Silverstone Slater) was hit on the port side by one G7e torpedo from U-206 and sank immediately after a heavy explosion about 100 miles southeast of Iceland. The trawler had been reported missing after leaving Iceland. | ||
