History | Completed in December 1937 as patrol ship PSK-301 for the NKVD. The ship participated in the Winter war against Finland. On 5 January 1941 renamed Zhemchug (No 27) and on 23 June assigned to the Northern Fleet. | ||
Notes on event | At 21.12 hours on 10 August 1941 the Zhemchug (No 27) was hit by one torpedo from U-451 while on patrol duties between Cape Svyatoj Nos and Cape Kanin Nos. The U-boat observed how the ship sank immediately west of Kanin Nos and later saw debris and two survivors, but all hands were lost. Only a life buoy of the ship was found ashore some days later. |
