Notes on event | At 10.32 hours on 23 Feb 1942, U-502 hit the unescorted Thalia with one torpedo after a spread of two torpedoes had missed at 09.37 hours. The tanker did not sink after being hit by two coups de grâce at 10.44 and 11.04 hours, so the U-boat shelled the ship from 11.54 until 12.33 hours in seven approaches with 103 rounds and left the area after she sank about 80 miles from Aruba at 13.36 hours. | ||
