History Completed in December 1936 as fishing trawler Northern Princess (LO 170) for Mac Line Ltd (Lever), London. 1937 sold to Northern Trawlers Ltd (H. Markham Cook), Grimsby. In September 1939, requisitioned by the Royal Navy and used as armed boarding vessel. In February 1942 loaned to the US Navy. 
Notes on loss On 8 Mar, 1942, HMS Northern Princess (4.06) (Lt Dryden B. Phillipson, RNR) was torpedoed and sunk by U-587 off Newfoundland. The vessel was reported missing after she was seen for the last time at 20.43 hours on 7 March in 45°22N/55°59W.
