| Notes on loss | At 11.40 hours on 1 Mar, 1942, U-436 fired a torpedo at a steamer of 1500 tons northeast of Cape Teriberskij and reported a hit after 47 seconds and the subsequent sinking of the vessel. The victim was probably RT-19 Komintern that was fishing off the Gusinaia Banka, Novaya Zemlya, although Soviet sources report the date of loss as 16 March. | ||
