History Completed in April 1911 for Emerald SS Co Ltd, Belfast. 1915 lengthened and later registered in Honduras for Standard Fruit & SS Co. 
Notes on loss At 02.26 hours on 17 Mar, 1942, the unescorted Ceiba was hit underneath the bridge by one torpedo from U-124 and sank with a heavy list to port. Six men on a raft were picked up two days later by USS Hambleton (DD 455). Among the dead were wives and children of some crew members.
