Notes on event

At 07.24 hours on 27 June 1942, U-129 fired a spread of two torpedoes at the unescorted Tuxpam (Master Adolfo Meza Burgos) about 40 miles northeast from Gutiérrez Zamora and had to evade a circle-runner by diving, but the other torpedo hit the vessel. The tanker settled by the stern but did not sink, so the U-boat surfaced and opened fire with the deck gun at 08.15 hours. The ship caught fire and sank after 52 rounds had been fired.
