Notes on loss At 06.16 hours on 2 Jul, 1942, the unescorted Gundersen (Master Bjarne Jørgensen) was torpedoed and sunk by gunfire by U-129. 22 survivors were picked up by the steam merchant Dea taken to Progreso on 3 July.
