Notes on loss

At 10.29 hours on 21 Jul, 1942, the unescorted Donovania (Master Douglas Bartholomew Edgar) was hit in the engine room by one G7e torpedo from U-160 off Grand Matelot Point, Trinidad. The tanker had been chased for more than four hours and missed with two single torpedoes at 09.24 and 09.52 hours. She sank by the stern in shallow water after being hit by a coup de grāce at 10.42 hours. Three crew members and two gunners were lost. The master, 42 crew members and two gunners were picked up by British motor torpedo boats (MTBs) and USS Livermore (DD 429) and landed at Port of Spain, Trinidad.
