History Built as Pinar del Rio for Santa Clara SS Co Ltd, Liverpool. 1933 renamed Montreal City for Charles Hill & Sons, Bristol. 
Notes on loss At 03.56 hours on 21 Dec, 1942, the Montreal City (Master Edward Roylands W. Chanter), a straggler from convoy ONS-152, was torpedoed by U-591 northeast of Cape Race and sunk by a coup de grâce at 04.09 hours. The master, 31 crew members and seven gunners were lost.
