At 10.55 hours on 20 Jan 1945 the Razjarennyj was hit by a Gnat from U-293 while escorting convoy KP-1. The destroyer was hunting the U-boat together with Rasumnyj (Cpt3cl G.P. Vasilev) at 16 knots when she was hit in the afterpart and lost a part of the stern. The crew managed to keep the ship afloat, which was taken in tow at 17.10 hours by the Soviet minesweeper T-117 and reached Liinahamari the next day.
