Notes on event

On 22 August 1942 U-456 discovered the Chaika that was anchored off the Matyuschev Isle near the western entrance of the Matochkin Strait and at 23.00 hours took her in tow unnoticed by the Soviets. After searching the boat she was sunk by scuttling charges. Nothing valuable was found exept of four infantry guns.
