| Notes on loss | At 02.28 hours on 26 Jun, 1940, the unescorted Crux (Master Einar Hansen) was torpedoed and sunk by UA. Twenty minutes after the crew left the ship in lifeboats, a southbound ship passed by very near, but did not see them in the dark. They did not use their flashes to make themselves known, because they thought that the U-boat was still near them. They were picked up by the British steam merchant Brutus the following day. | ||
