Notes on event | At 14.45 hours on 30 June 1940 the unescorted and neutral Georgios Kyriakides was hit on starboard side in the bow by one G7e torpedo from U-47 and sank about 200 miles west-southwest of Cape Clear. The crew abandoned ship in the lifeboats and made landfall at Valentia Island on 2 July. |
