| Notes on loss | At 18.18 hours on 14 Jul, 1940, the unescorted Thetis A. was hit amidships by one G7e torpedo from U-52 and sank in 5 minutes west-southwest of the Scillies after the survivors abandoned ship in the starboard lifeboat. The ship had been spotted at 16.33 hours and attacked with a G7a torpedo at 18.13 hours, but the torpedo malfunctioned. | ||
