| History | Completed in June 1907 as Heimdal for Angfartygs A/B Göteborg - Manchester (K.O.F. Dalman), Gothenburg. 1915 transferred to Rederi-A/B Svenska Lloyd, Gothenburg and 1919 renamed Gwalia. | ||
| Notes on loss | At 04.18 hours on 2 Dec, 1940, the Gwalia in convoy OG-46 was hit amidships by one torpedo from U-37 and sank, followed by the Jeanne M. at 04.46 hours about 230 miles north of Cape Roca, Portugal. After a third attack at the same convoy the U-boat observed a burning tanker, but this can not be confirmed from Allied sources. The survivors from Gwalia were picked up from a raft after 11 days by a British destroyer and landed at Gibraltar. | ||
