Notes on event

At 00.42 hours on 20 Jan 1941, U-94 fired one G7a torpedo at an unescorted freighter after chasing the ship for about eight hours. The vessel was hit amidships and sank vertically by the stern after 42 seconds about 140 miles west-southwest of the Faroe Islands. This must have been the Florian (Master Laurence Robert Mann) which was reported missing in the North Atlantic after 20 January. The master, 41 crew members and two gunners were lost.
