Notes on event

At 02.47 hours on 30 Jan 1941 the unescorted Rushpool (Master William George Stewart Hewison), a straggler from convoy SC-19, was hit amidships by one torpedo from U-94 southeast of Rockall. The ship had been spotted at 00.40 hours and missed with a spread of two torpedoes at 02.09 hours. She sank by the bow 35 minutes after being hit by a coup de grĂ¢ce at 03.10 hours. The master and 39 crew members were picked up by HMS Antelope (H 36) (LtCdr R.T. White, DSO and Bar, RN) and landed at Greenock.
