| Notes on loss | At 23.39 hours on 23 Feb, 1941, U-69 fired one G7e torpedo at a ship from the dispersed convoy OB-288 and hit the Marslew (Master H.R. Watkins) amidships, which sank after breaking in two about 300 miles north-northwest of Rockall. The master and twelve crew members were lost. 21 crew members and two gunners were picked up by the British steam merchant Empire Cheetah. | ||
