Notes on event

At 07.23 hours on 10 June 1941 the unescorted Christian Krohg (Master Ingvart Hagen), dispersed from convoy OB-329 in position 51°48N/20°48W on 5 June, was hit on starboard side by one G7e torpedo from U-108 about 430 miles east of St. John’s, Newfoundland. The U-boat had first spotted her about 16 hours earlier, missed with one torpedo in a submerged attack at 16.29 hours on 9 June and eventually managed to locate the ship again despite bad visibility due to fog. The torpedo struck between bridge and funnel, causing a boiler explosion and the ship to sink by the stern in less than four minutes. Some crew members abandoned ship in a lifeboat and were questioned by the Germans after the sinking, who misidentified the ship as Aristian Aroth. However, the survivors were never seen again.
