General notes on this boat
Due to a lot of building defects, in November 1944 U-3001 became a school boat at the yard, where new crews had their first experience with this new type of boat.
Men lost from U-boats
Unlike many other U-boats, which during their service lost men due to accidents and various other causes, U-3001 did not suffer any casualties (we know of) until the time of her loss.
