Attacks on this boat and other events
1 Nov 1942
Severe damage from depth charges dropped by an American Catalina flying boat (Sqdn VP 84 in Iceland, pilot R. C. Child) forced U-664 to return to France. (Sources: Blair, vol 2, page 43.)
8 Aug 1943
The boat took the escort carrier USS Card by surprise under cover of darkness and got three torpedoes off before the Card responded and forced her to dive. Subsequent depth charging caused no damage. (Sources: Blair, vol 2, page 385.)
2 recorded attacks on this boat.
Men lost from U-boats
Unlike many other U-boats, which during their service lost men due to accidents and various other causes, U-664 did not suffer any casualties (we know of) until the time of her loss.
