Hello guys,
Here is the info on the fate of the officers involved in these 2 special missions:
N.B. All following dates are according to the german calendar in 1918-1920 (the equivalent greek calendar dates are in parentheses)
1st SPECIAL MISSION:
27 February 1918 (14 February 1918): Lieutenant Kalamaras and Second Lieutenant Hatzopoulos disembarked from UB-68 near (just below) the city of Kyparissia.
5 March 1918 (20 February 1918): Hatzopoulos was seen in the city of Patras (north-western Peloponnese) and, from that moment, placed under surveillance.
8 March 1918 (23 February 1918): Kalamaras was arrested in Athens.
11 March 1918 (26 February 1918): Hatzopoulos boarded the train from Patras to Athens and was arrested a few hours after arriving in Athens (interrogation took place the following day)
28 March 1918 (15 March 1918): Court-martial begins.
30 March 1918 (17 March 1918): Court-martial decision announced: Kalamaras and Hatzopoulos sentenced to death. They appeal against the decision at various judicial levels.
18 July 1918 or 5am on 19 July 1918 (according to 2 different sources) (5 July 1918 or 5am on 6 July 1918): Kalamaras and Hatzopoulos are deposed - their rank of officer being taken away - and shot.
2nd SPECIAL MISSION:
18 March 1918 (5 March 1918): Lieutenant Potiropoulos and Lieutenant Papakostas disembarked from UB-50 at Buca Beach, near the town of Messini, Bay of Kalamata.
Very quickly, they were informed that the first pair of officers had been arrested and decided not to go to Athens, but instead to hide somewhere near (N.B. Potiropoulos hailed from Messini).
Summer 1920: Papakostas dies in the hiding place
14 November 1920 (Sunday, 1 November 1920): General elections are declared. Venizelos loses. Potiropoulos exits the hiding place the following weekend.
