<HTML>Yes, this appears to be correct that Hitler did interfear with U-boat operations. The Lion wanted to use 12 U-boats for Operational Drumbeat; however, Hitler insisted that the U-boats should support Rommel and the German Afrika Korps by operating off of Gibralter against Allied Convoys during Janurary, 1942. Instead Doenitz used 5 or 6 off the coast of America. Just think if he had been able to use 12 Type IXB or C U-boats for the two week operation against an undefended eastern coast line of America.
