On May 2, 1917, Keryado was escorting the sailing ships Cancalais, La Victoire, Yvonne and Russie, when she was torpedoed by UC 72 (and sank immediately, leaving only one survivor. UC 72 then proceeded to the sailing ships and sank the 4 of them with explosives or gunfire. All crew managed to reach Ile d´Yeu in their lifeboats.
