Hi Jimmy,

I never had any major problems with construction. Only some very tiny pin-holes in the surface from the casting process but easily filled. I just followed the instructions exactly. I made a base from a 7 foot length of shelving material, and once the hull sections were bonded together, I screwed the hole lot to the base ( screwing up into the hull bottom from underneath the shelf of course). I sculpted the "sea" on the base from filler and painted it. Now I will , when I find time, cover this with a thin layer of clear modellers resign to make it look more like real water. I airbrushed it all in semi matt medium grey ( fully matt looks too artificial), and added some rust staining etc.

Although the model is great, I do not like the crew figures they sell separately. They are not so good. I bought some of the Dragon 1:35 "Dieppe" Kriegsmarine figures and remodelled them a little. You can also use slightly modified "Panzer" crewmen who are often represented wearing the black version of the grey U-Boat Leathers. I will e.mail you directly with some photos.

Gordon
