Dave,
First I'd like to say that the service from Chris Cloke at Sheerline has been excellent. From when I placed my order to actually receiving the boat, was four weeks. And I was in ne rush as I was still working on my Surcouf. To answer your question, the quality of the model I think is excellent. The hull is of good sturdy and heavy construction, with nicelt detailed and clear rivet lines and clearly marked flood holes in deck and hull.
I haven't taken apart the diving system yet, but I will say that Chris will make sur it is in good working order. The only reason I did not receive my boat in three weeks was that he had a sealant problem with the ballast tank, and he called to tell me that he was building another one for me with a better type of sealant, and the boat would be delayed one week. He was true to his word.
I also opted for the fittings kit he contracts with someone to build. Again, I'm very pleased with the detail and quality of the fittings that were delivered. This boat is not for the beginner and still requires a good deal of modeling skills to build, but I think it is one of the best complete packages I've seen yet.
Good hunting,
Frank
