The stuff I was referring to are commercially available products.
Your 'problem' has been dealt with in this forum ad nauseam. The one thing perhaps not mentioned too often, is the stuff used on the wood was not a paint product but a woodpreservative similar to creosote - i.e. a very dark blackish grey, quite similar to the underwater hull. The problem with the woodpreservative was leaching by seawater and sun - so you got a near infinitive shading of grey and woodbrown tones over time. New and after overhaul repaint deck surfaces dark grey with a little browinsh tint and the metal deck pieces and hatch frames a corresponding dark grey without the brown tint. Rgds, RB
