Unfortunately, if you want a particular type of U-boat in a specific scale, you will probably be forced to scratch build. That is also true if you want a collection of the major types.

In general, the aircraft and armour people have it easy in that regard since all the major types are available in several scales. Ship modellers have always had that problem unless you want the IJN in 1/700
