Hello Woody!
As long as you are happy with your "ready made" U-Boat, that is fine. I have been building models for 40 years now. I have a particular interest in U-Boats because my father was on two different U-Boats during the war. I am currently working on the 1/72 Revell German Kit. I am using the P.E. set from White Ensign, and the wooden deck conbined with the brass deck from various suppliers. I am using the wood for the main deck, the brass for the bow and stern ends and the brass for the Tower deck.I have found that this is more like the real Boat. I also plan to use the White Ensign Kriegsmarine colors for the model. I am building the model as U-94. So I will be using Dunkelgrau 55 on the uppersurfaces and a darker gray for the lower hull. I am sorry you feel you can't model. I am not perfect either, but I enjoy doing the research on a project and then building it! So far I have been very impressed with this kit and the various after market items that are coming out for this model.
Best Regards,
Dan Bauer
