Well James,
If you're going to build the Revell type VII you have it "made" For this kit there is an abundance of detailing sets available on the market(internet)
You alsmost could do without the plans but I really would advise to to buy the book: "Vom Orginal zum Modell Uboottyp VII".
You might even look at the book written by David Westwood:
"U-Boottyp VII" wich is also very detailed and contains a lot of drawings(not all to scale)
