Hi Einsamer,
I would definitely stick with Eduard. The tread bars more closely resemble the real ones than the model brass. They are also thinner and more to scale. The modelbrass are a little on the thick side, "trip bars" : )
The "stacked decorations" as Modelbrass calls them are actually for mooring lines and should be some kind of "loop" not stacked pieces of metal. Again, I would stick with the Eduard. They got it right. I think I have some actual pics if you like, but I'll have to give a look.
