Modelling Pressure Hull for Revell VII

Hi, this is my first post and I must say thanks for putting this site together.

I have recently purchased the Revell VII U boat model and from my research on the net I've come to the conclusion that I want to open up all the flood holes, plus replace the kit decking with PE items. Of course this will reveal a lack of pressure hull which I want to rectify.

One suggestion I found was to use some pipe from the local hardware store. This sounds ok to me as not much will be visible once the deck and hull are joined together, but it will give the impression of the pressure hull. The only problem I have is that I have no idea where the pressure hull would stat and stop, plus what other internal items are required once the flood holes are opened up.

Can anyone help me with suggestions, items to build, pictures, etc that will help me fill my empty hull.
