Using Type XXI conning tower as an air lock?

Another question, in addition to the Salvage Air System questions below, that pertains to this project is whether or not the conning tower of the Type XXI could be flooded and blown in order to allow access to the sub when submerged in shallow water.

If anyone has any ideas about this or any sources that I might check I'd be grateful if they would let me know!
