Well, I think, we can assume that U-864 was fitted with Junkers compressor.
German started fitting Diesel compressors into their subs in year 1940
(type VIIC boats).

U-864 was laid down in October 1942, so I'm almost sure, that she was equipped
with such type machine.

Moreover, in Report 2G-9C (Design Study of Former German Submarine - Type IXC,
[uboatarchive.net]) is stated, that this boat was fitted with Junkers compressor. This
report in turn was written based on investigation of U-505, which was laid down in June 1940.
