for sure germany was far away from having a atomic bomb. when they would be close to- without doubt hilter would force everything to complete it for dropping it over london or moscow istead of shipping it to japan.
in 1945 germany was destructive, everybody thought to just survive and not win the war. some fanatic politician sent some useless uran oxide and parts of a me262 to japan in a fanatic hope.- none of this cargo would change the history.
having some uran oxide and an atomic bomb are two different stories and years away ( see iran today)
the desison of the commander of the uboat was fully correct as a man and as a soldier. it has no sense to continue to japan for a nonsense in military aspects being a soldier and it has no sense to continue and risking killing the crew in human respects being a man.
