The possible presents of Oppenheimer shows extremely high interest.
From the book Black Flag - "As the uranium cargo was removed, a civilian in an Elliot Ness hat' was present, and Praff enquired who he was. Oppenheimer,' was the reply though he has never verified that it was indeed atomic physicist J Robert Oppenheimer, Director of the Los Alamos laboratory in Washington,D.C."
Los Alamos is in New Mexico but during maybe they (Washington) said elsewhere?
"Within five days of U234's entry into Portsmouth, the infrared rues where discovered, as result of Dr Heinz Schlicke's interrogation by Jack Aberti in Washington. A memorandum from Alberti dated 24 May 1945 stated that:'Dr Schlicke's knows about infrared proximity fuses which are contained in some of these packages....Dr Scklicke knows how to handle them and is willing to do so."
"American scientists had consistently failed to develop the kind of simultaneously-firing detonation system required to activate a plutonium weapon, and a committee was established October1944 specifically to solve that problem. ..... Luis Alvarez also finally solved the plutonium bomb detonator timing problem in the last days before the first test firing of such a weapon at Trinity test site. It impossible but unproven, that Schlicke's fuses, or derivatives thereof, were utilized in the successful development of the Plutonium bomb that was ultimately dropped on Nagasaki, Japan."
