Hi

I have another idea why all the submarines look the same:

After loosing the war, Germany had to give his U-boats to the Allies and I think also to Italy and France. So, these countries would have had the time to copy some of the technology.

After WW II, the USA took over some of the "Walter" U-boats, and the submarines build by the USA right after WW II were based on this German technology with the "Walter" motor.
Also the France and Russia got some "Walter" U-boats and might learned from the German's knowledge.
