DOS and Quick Basic

Quick Basic programs should run in the DOS Window in any version of Windows. The age of the machine does not matter. Translating a program from Quick Basic to Visual Basic for Windows is a major undertaking and bears no resemblance to upgrading from one version of Quick Basic to another. Quick Basic 4.0 is still the best compiler for quickly dashing off a program. The Windows overhead associated with all the Visual Basic compilers just gets in the way of the logic of the program, but the results do look prettier.
