I was informed that with hand keys, \"fist\" recognition is maximum. Use of the Vibra-plex and other bugs reduces it quite a bit although some ops even have individual traits in their use. Electronic keyers used with the paddle have very litlle or no op recognition. My source says that different Keyer types have subtle differences but only to an op who spends many hours on the air. I personally never operated enough CW to recognize anybody. The WW2 intercept ops were listening 8-12 hours per day, 6 & 7 days per week. \"Fist\" recognition was a break from normal which became very important.
