You have some good informations and layouts in the german book :
" Vom Original zum Modell: Uboottyp II " from Rössler, Eberhard
1999, Bernard & Graefe Verlag, Bonn ISBN 3763760237

The snorkel of the u-boot typ IId his electro-pneumatic like on u-boot typ VIIc
u-481. But i don't know if this snorkel his mounted on an other typ VIIc submarine.
Maybe on typ XVIIb u-1405 ?
