ASW weapon "squid"

I have just been re-reading Blair's U-boat war vol. II, and have a question on a British ASW weapon mentioned in the sinking of U-333, and U-736. The weapon was referred to as a "squid". Apparently it is a forward firing mortar similar to a hedgehog, but no further information is given.

If anyone has any further info on this weapon please let me know.
