You may have missed my point.........

The "establishment" didn't really admit their mistakes, not even to this day, however, there was no retaliation as in the German Navy. I will say this, the "establishment" continued their R&D work on this device until they achieved
success. They followed through even at the expense of us taxpayers. I would
have it no other way, 'cause it led to the "smart" torpedoes of today, namely
the Mark 48 (ADCAP) weapon which is also being carried as the "weapon
of choice" on submarines of other nations.
