Ken, et al;

You know about the photo of a pistol at:

[www.museumofworldwarii.com]

There is no identifier shown for that pistol, however, I believe it was both contact and magnetic-influence. The "propellor" armed the device both for contact and magnetic detonation of the warhead's main charge. It
looks like the same type of pistol on the torpedoes that were removed
from U-534 at Laboe.

I found the following description: "The torpedoes had different ignition mechanisms. They detonated either with the impact or by means of a magnet pistol by the magnetic field goals were released. During the impact detonation the warhead was made sharp by a small device. This
device consisted of a propellor, which had implemented the "entsprechenen" revolutions after putting a certain "laufstrecke" back toward a goal {target} in order to loosen the pin, which released the firing pin of the engagements pistol. The claw-similar device at the head
of the torpedo met torpedo "schiffswand" exploded that and tore a hole into the trunk of the ship."

"In the case to the magnet pistol that detonated to torpedo directly under the goal, which let the back wheel (the keel) of the ship, which sank on it break.'

"Nevertheless there were numerous malfunctions, particularly with the moody engagements pistol with magneto ignition, which should replace those with "Aufschlazuendung", A further source of error was a insufficient depth control, which let the torpedo go through far under its goal, until he went down at the end of his "laufstrecke."

I have no idea where I got this info, I just clicked on a google.com item
that said translate, and this what I got.;
