According to AXIS SUBMARINE SUCCESSES 1939 > 1945, by Jurgen Rohwer,
the ONEIDA was sunk by U166, with a date being given as 13/July/1942. Further data as follows:
U-Boot commanded by Kuhlman; position on gridmap being DN; taget designation being -D (Steamship); estimated size 3,000+ tons; sunk by torpedoes; not with convoy; time of first hit being 1610 hours;nationality American; actual tonnage 2309+ tons; Location 20.17N / 74.06W
However, position DN on the sub map is north of Cuba and included the Bahamas.
Could there be two ships with the same name? There is only one Oneida in the book
