The answers provided are correct, at least as correct as they can be without more information.

Metox was a radar signal receiver, so unless the destroyer was using the radar, Metox would have nothing to detect.

The submarine sonar could have detected the Asdic active pings, had there been any. But diesel engines running at the surface would provide a good target sound source, so why ping if you are the destroyer, and give away your proximity?
