<HTML>The following vessels were converted to detonate magnetic mines by the RN in 1940 (pennant nr/name/tonnage/year built):
F.123 Andelle, 1832/22
FY.758 Borde, 2014/21
F.130 Burlington, 2068/40, renamed Soothsayer 1941
F.119 Bushwood, 2314/30
FY.1951 Corbrae, 1788/12
-- Corburn, 1786/36
-- Corfield, 1791/37
-- Queenworth, 2047/24
-- Springdale, 1597/37
4.94 Springtide, 1597/37
These vessels were all fitted with a 300-ton electromagnet in the bow (necessitating a good sized vessel) but were not very succesful due to the magnetic field thus created being too close to the ship. All those who succesfully detonated mines suffered structural damage. I don't know which one is the one you're looking for, the ones flying FY pennants are former fishing vessels.
Corbrn was torpedoed 21/5/40 off Le Havre by S.32 & German divers wh descended onto her discovered the magnet, all mines being then altered to resist this type of sweeping & rendering the system obsolete. None of the altered vessels remained in service as such past early 1942.
